In 2019 I got the chance to collaborate with Gorilla Highlands, an initiative that uses tourism as a tool of economic and social development. Unlike most companies in the tourism area, that focus only on advertising the same well-known tours, their mission is larger: They see Uganda, Rwanda, and DR Congo as the “Gorilla Highlands” and they promote the entire area it in a manner that brings an increase in responsible, sustainable and culturally sensitive tourism.
We met while they were about to launch a new edition of their famous Pocket Guide, a booklet full of useful information that it’s distributed across the 3 countries and I quickly became part of their team. Working along with them not only I got fun experiences and great pictures, but I also experienced by first hand the work they are doing I can honestly say it’s awesome. I was also able to meet locals, talk with them, learn, have fun and get a much more rich experience for everyone.
My pictures became part of the Pocket Guide and the Gorilla Highlands became a place I can’t wait to go back.
