I always dreamed of living in a different culture for several months to learn about its people and culture. In 2016 I travel to Sweden with the intention of practicing the language for 3 months and I ended up staying for almost 2 years.
In the first 3 months, I mostly took black and white photos, but over time, my working pace slowly changed and I went from chasing fleeting moments, to spend hours in a single place waiting for the sun, or trying to find that specific spot where all elements in the composition finally made sense.
This trip was the beginning of my love for traveling and a renewed love for photography. During that period, my camera slowly regained its place as a partner. It stopped being a working tool and became a travel companion. I stopped being worried about gear and technique, I switched to a compact camera and spent hours hiking. It’s hard to put in a few words what this whole experience meant at a personal level but it was pretty much the foundation of my traveling photography.
