Hi, I’m David
I have a creative and curious mind that loves to tell stories. Whether it’s creating VFX for Adidas, teaching filmmaking in a school in Rwanda, or running my own Youtube Channel, my passion for exploring and finding new creative challenges is what drives me in life. By pouring my soul and obsession for detail into each project, I’m able to keep my aesthetic fresh and authentic.
My academic background in fine arts and filmmaking, combined with 15 years of international experience in photography, filmmaking, and visual effects, provide me with a unique skill set that I use to produce high-quality results.
Proud jack of all trades
“So, you’re a photographer, right?”
“Well… yeah, but for many years, I worked doing visual effects for documentaries. Before that, I studied fine arts and had a couple of exhibitions. Actually, a few days ago, I thought it would be cool to turn a calculator and an old camera into a slave optical flash, so I took all the pieces apart and welded the tiny solar panel with… um… yes, I’m mainly a photographer.”
A jack of all trades, a polymath, a multipotentialite, a scanner – you can pick the term that best describes me, and they all fit pretty well. However, they can make people feel a bit nervous. The truth is, I find the world so rich, diverse, and fascinating that I don’t see any reason why I should settle for just one career. It’s like entering the biggest ice cream factory and having to pick only one flavor for eternity – that’s a nightmare for me! So, yes, I’m a photographer, but I’ve also studied drama for several years and performed in front of large audiences. I’ve fixed lenses, cameras, computers, and I’ve even designed and coded the website you’re now visiting.
The sum of all these rare skills is what makes me, me. I tap into my acting experience when I have to lead a team or speak in public, and I remember how a camera looks like on the inside when I need to explain what’s going wrong to a technician. What I enjoy the most is combining all these skills into a single project, making crazy connections between seemingly unrelated subjects, and coming up with out-of-the-box ideas.
Why Inner Light Leaks?
It’s a bit cheesy…
When an unexpected ray of light finds its way into a camera and reaches the film, it leaves a mark on the photo known as a light leak. That ray of light was able to find a crack somewhere and express itself. I think that’s cool. I believe a similar kind of light lives within every story, waiting to be seen. My mission as a storyteller is to find that light and allow myself to be the channel, the crack, through which the essence of the story finds its way into this world.
